Société Francais de Secours aux Blessés Militaires

This is the name of the French Red Cross before 1940.

The artist and illustrator Georges Bruyer was a soldier from 1914, wounded in 1915 (Croix de Guerre), convalescent until 1917 and then an official war artist. In 1915 he illustrated a series of cards issued by the Society. Drawings by him and others are collected in "Au front // 1914-1915 : numéro spécial de L'Art et les Artiste".

The "Blue devils" was the nickname for the Chasseurs Alpins.
