The Stilke company was a publisher of books and magazines, and later also station booksellers and newsagents - a trade it pioneered. There is an article entitled Georg Stilke on the German

Later (1930s) postcards, real photo view cards, were published by Stilke Verlag but many early cards bearing the Stilke legend were just distributed by them, as it was their habit to add their name to distributed cards.
Printed on the rear of the first example card. faint and written over, is "Georg Stilke, Berlin N W 7".
Cards exist with
"Georg Stilke, Berlin N W 7" embossed on the edge (eg NPG 646-2)
and others with it printed on one edge and
the original publishers full name on another edge
(eg a card by Kunstanstalt J Miesler). The latter is a special case as Miesler went bankrupt and Stilke bought the stock. "Georg Stilke, Berlin N W 7" on the address side of other cards may have been added by a stamp rather than printed.
Stilke produced many cards for field use in WW1.
